Queen’s artist Cam Blair’s recent visual for “Pick It Up” presents another perspective to club life. While Blair and his entourage are boxed-in with lights, which pay homage to 90’s music videos, it also illuminates the mishappenings in night time activities. Blair’s lyrics challenge the gloricatication of club norms. While we may believe we are having a good time, in reality we may be going over budget, are tempted by lust, and surrounded by individuals who have toxic motives. His upbeat tempo and revelation lyrics fit well with the music of the night, but gives listeners an incentive to be more cautious of their behavior.
