Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
J Mouse: Truly committed is my latest release. & it just mean I’m truly committed to this lifestyle, my gang, & my code of ethics. I’m truly committed to all of it, 5L
Yung Goony: My latest track release is a song called “Truly Committed” which is inspired by the people I love who I am most loyal to.
What is unique about you and your music?
J Mouse: I don’t sound like nobody. Now that can be a good & bad thing, but shit I like it. I believe I got my own sound
Yung Goony: Being raised in Detroit has impacted my music style gravely. Detroit’s style alone is extremely unique and specific. I believe traveling the world at a young due to my parents career has molded my music beyond measures. It has allowed me to be well rounded in areas where I can appeal to many different listeners while maintaining my Detroit roots.
What shaped your music?
J Mouse: My experiences. My background & the shit I been through. I try to relay my life through the beat. Also, my favorite artists. J Cole, Wayne, & HOV. They made me love music.
Yung Goony: I really feel as though my upbringing and my surroundings truly shaped my music. Growing up my dad listened to a lot of old school rap which was always an inspiration to me. Old school rap is different, they put a lot of themselves in their music I believe I put a lot of myself in my music as well.
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
J Mouse: When I couldn’t stop rappin. I started to make songs in my free time, then it turned into “make time to make music”. Don’t matter if I had time or not. It’s just something I love to do.
Yung Goony: The day I realized I was going to make music professionally, I was in the studio in LA where I coincidently met some people from Detroit who I really vibe with a guy named will who would later become one of my main producers produced a beat that I really enjoyed which led me to making my first song “Too Playa.” Even when I was playing basketball and also, throughout my entire life, I would rap over songs and change the words in my head.
What type of music do you listen to?
J Mouse: I like lyricist. I like that shit talkin music. I told you my favorites but In my city I fw artist like Rio, Baby face ray, Eastside 80’s, etc.
Yung Goony: I listen to all types of music, being from Detroit I love my oldies. It really just depends on who I’m around. If I’m around my friends I’ll play my favorite rappers like Young Thug, Lil Keed, Gunna, Travis Scott. If my around my girl I’ll be listening to Frank Ocean, H.E.R, jhene Aiko, and whatever oldies she’s playing. The range can easily be anywhere from Billie Eilish to 21savage
What inspires you to write music?
J Mouse: Myself. Honestly, I make music for myself. If other people listen to it then shit that’s cool too.
Yung Goony: My love for my family and friends inspire me to write. I make music for the people who are around me and support me.
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
J Mouse: I start businesses. I’m innovative. I love to come up with different business ideas and launch em. I’m in the process of working on getting my second business up & running as we speak.
Yung Goony: You’ll be able to find me playing Xbox or hooping anytime I’m not doing music.
Happiness to you is…
J Mouse: The ability to do what you want, when you want, free of responsibilities
Yung Goony: Happiness to me is simply making the other people in my life happy. It brings me joy to see the people around me doing well and watching people do the things that I haven’t or couldn’t. If I could I would take care of the world. In this moment I’m focused on making the people important to me as happy as I can.
What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
J Mouse: Believe In yourself. It’s no reason other people should believe in you, more than you believe in you. Bible.
Yung Goony: Being a new upcoming artist there’s still a lot of the unknown that I’m figuring out daily but if there is a question I need answered my manager Capo is always there to answer it.
Tell us about your upcoming projects...
J Mouse: I got a single named ‘LALA’ dropping on all platforms soon feat ‘Bills’. Shit is fire
Yung Goony: I started dropping singles every month starting October 16th and for the next 5 weeks you will be able to hear new music from me. My next single “Federal” will be dropping Nov 13th. Eventually I will be dropping my EP as soon as early next year made of all the dropped songs and more.
