Born in Compton and raised on the East Coast, Rory K. Douglas—better known as Radio TheyNeverPlayMeTho has been immersed in music since birth. Long before stepping into the booth, he was sitting in his father’s lap, absorbing the rhythms of hip-hop culture from the inside. Meeting legends like Biggie Smalls left a lasting impression, but it’s Radio’s own grind that’s been the real story.
As both a rapper and comedian, he hits the stage at least four days a week, building a fanbase with a sound that fuses East and West Coast influences with personal storytelling. His journey hasn't been without challenges, including legal setbacks that forced him to rebuild from scratch. Since then, he's written for others, performed in stage plays, and had a short biography film directed by Tyler Perry’s Tasha Smith made addressing mental health an issue close to his heart.
Through his company, ilOveUS LLC, Radio supports communities dealing with mental health disparities. And when he says he promotes his music until his hands go numb, he means it. With three new tracks lined up for the summer—“Kiss You Back,” “What You Want,” and “No Bad Vibes”—Radio is blending hip-hop and R&B with intention, emotion, and unstoppable drive.
His motto says it all: We Only Wake Up To Win And Get Some Rest Just So We Can Do It Again.
Shoutout to Colossal Music Group for supporting real talent and the culture.
