Two days ago, X-Isle shook the world with the release of his “Ghosting - EP” project. Albeit, the extended play is solely four tracks in length, it rumbles with the strength of a full-length; offering a energetic glimpse into the Southern artist’s life. Sonically, this album is perfectly cut in two, with one half featuring blazing bars from X-Isle, and the other forwarding his most brilliant melodies to date. “So Cold”, the second track on the EP, is a cinematic trap smash, reminiscent of a joint that would have shaped Drake’s 2015 “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late”. The ultimate song on the project, “Watershed”, is a boom-bap cut pulsating with bright, introspective rhymes dedicated to X-Isle’s tumultuous, Mobile, Alabama times. “Ghosting” and “Wasteman”, on the other-hand, slightly veer away from this lyrical paradigm, instead focusing on delivering us melodic anthems that’ll live on repeat. They are slow-burning, auto-tuned driven records. Ones that the radio will be incapable of resisting. With “Ghosting - EP”, X-Isle gives us the best of both worlds; whilst, likewise inviting us into a world of his own. And he does so flawlessly, to say the least. If Alabama has a roster of “next ups”, this Southern creative’s at the top of that list.
