Whether it's from the top of the key and on the bassline, a cold jumpshot will get any baller far in the game. Since the metaphorical sense of the action is easily translated into rap verbiage, District 21 is using his Cali sensibilities to navigate across his new single/video combo with insightful lyricism.
Directed by Derek Pike in high powered black and white, the song gets a boost in familiarity thanks to Sister Nancy's "Bam Bam" horn sample as D21 calmly asserts his rookie stature into the hall of greatness with lines like, "I took a minute to assess myself/Thinking too hard to overstress myself/I forgot I'm the greatest, I had to check myself/Hov, Ye and yes, myself."
Watch the fresh Golden State music video for "Jumpshot" up above. By the way, he's also Mack 10's son. Go ahead and marinate on that and run the clip back one good time.
