Ahead of the release of his new Monsta assisted single, "Facts," Chief P wants to remind the world that Ohio has the potential to be a major force in hip-hop. With much support from DJs and tastemakers, Chief releases the new visual to his buzzing record "Play Your Position".
Cheif discusses, "Witnessing Lebron James put the Cavaliers on his back and bring a championship to northeast Ohio was inspiring to watch. When I saw him do it, I knew I could do it." That's the mentality Chief P adopted, wanting to do the same for the city of Youngstown, where the music scene is the underdog in Ohio rap. "There's so much talent in Youngstown, so many obstacles, but I am gonna break the curse," says Chief P. "I lost my father to the system just as I was becoming a man. I've lost several friends to the streets. I had to find another way."
Chief P, who began rapping as a youth, became serious about his craft and saved up money from the barbershop he owns. As soon as father returned home, Money Gold Diamond Records was born. Since the creation of Money Gold Diamond Records, Chief P has kept busy. In 2016, he embarked on the Streets Most Wanted tour with Big Heff, hitting major cities such as Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati and New York City. He later took his talents to the SXSW music festival in 2016, performing on Hip Hop Weekly stages and heavily promoting his No Plug No Love 2 project with single "Play Your Position" produced by Ant Beatz.
Now, alongside Empire distribution, Chief P is gearing to drop back 2 back EP's this summer titled 330P along with the the Fall release of The Tonight Show mixtape hosted by DJ Fresh. Keep up with all things Chief P by following @MGD_ChiefP on Instagram and Twitter.
