SD: Welcome back Ran Blacc, we brought you in today to clear the air a bit. We wanted to dive into some topics. With so much going on for you right now we’d like to get back to some of the rumors, tall tales and finish with the truths. Is that ok?
RB: (shakes his head) Yeah I’m with it. How far back we going though?? I try to stay away from those things I’ve walked away from or anything negative but I’m up for the adventure. Let’s go.
SD: Ok, Let’s go all the way back to your 2nd mixtape in the Alter Egos series. What happened between you and Dough Gotti? He’s on most of your music up until that point and then, there’s no more Dough???
RB: Wowwww, ok... damnn! I didn’t know we was going in like that. (laughter) Ok, Dough was my guy, my little brother, the head of the team in Vegas while I was living in San Diego. I truly can’t tell you what happened, I remember we were going to drop his project, he pushed it back because he wasn’t ready to drop it and then the company as a whole started moving forward towards the next project and all of sudden that blew up into him not wanting to be here no more. I know we spoke before the whole division and the conversation went no where so it was best we go our separate ways.
SD: Was that talked about? The Division? The going separate ways? How it was all going to go?
RB: Naw not really, there was no speaking on the division, Dough was upset about lack of promo he felt he was getting and I felt like he was way way off in left field because we (CRE) were the only ones promoting the music. So I just didn’t get it, nor did I feel it was worth fighting over. So he sent me a text and said he didn’t want to be at the table any longer. It was a slap in the face, text message??? But I was ok with it. I did a lot to help Dough and he did a lot to help me and that’s how I’ll leave that. That was my guy thoo!
SD: I have more I want to dive into. Within the first two years of establishing CRE you went back to Richmond, KY, your birth place, and created Crown Republik South. Why??
RB: Hmmm because I had already promised my cousin Los Peezy that when I was getting back on I would come get him. And that’s one of my best friends and that was a promise I most definitely was going to keep. Plus we had Cowboy & King David signed on already and we had the opportunity to speak with Labrece Angelic & AMW (America’s Most Wicked) so we felt like we could go back to my hometown and get enough talent to create another whole independent side of the crown!
