Born October 25, 1991 in Northern New Jersey, TakeOff Rustarr has always had a uniquely authentic story to tell. Being the son of a black/West Indian father and a white mother, fitting in wasn’t always easy. He began to find himself in music and literature. Starting with writing poetry and raps when he was 9 years old, and recording his first song at age 10.
At a young age, his Parents split up and TakeOff, his younger brother, and his mother lived with his grandmother until she passed away in 2004. When his grandma was ill, he began spending more and more time with his family and friends in the Bronx, NY. Further sparking his interest in hip hop. But also in the streets. By age 13, gang banging and the drug game had become a way of life. All the while, hiding his activities from his mother, knowing she would be heart broken. But he no longer could conceal the truth when tragedy struck in 2006.
At age 14, he lost his best friend, Ricky Lee Smith Jr, in a shooting incident at a party they attended. This caused him to dive further into the streets, racking up many arrests and even more enemies. Looking for a way to carry on the vision of the crew he and his fallen brother had created, he turned back to the music.
It’s been a back and forth battle ever since for TakeOff, trying to stay on a positive path. But he is making the best music of his career and he’s here to make a real push to the top. If real recognizes real... then you should already know about TAKEOFF RUSTARR!
