Perfect timing is everything, and fate cannot be ignored. Johnny "JayHitUp" Jones was born on May 7th, 1992 and it took him 24 years to record his first ever record. Jay was born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, one of South Florida's most prominent cities and what is now a part of what's becoming a massive movement in Broward County with the emergence of eyebrow raising spitters. Somehow, someway, JayHitUp tends to stick out like a sore thumb with his Cash Money influenced style. Jay, who grew up listening to the Hot Boys, is always subject to comparisons such as Lil Wayne and sometimes Turk. "No it doesn't bother me at all. They gave me the format. Now I have to do it bigger than they did it, it's only right," said the rapper while munching on his bag full of McDonald's. Being from Sunland Park of Ft. Lauderdale in a four sibling home, it was wasn't always easy for the now rapper. He was raised in a one parent household with his mother, it would put a ton of pressure on him to help raise his siblings.
Jay was introduced to words such as "loyalty" and "integrity" which sticks to the rapper til this day. He was also introduced to McDonald's and won't stop eating it. In other words, the guy commits to what he loves. His music is based off of true life events that sometimes sound so crazy yet realistic that the listener has no choice but to buckle up and enjoy the ride while bobbling their heads uncontrollably to the fast paced sounds of the rapper. The "you can't make this up" type of music is not only attention grabbing, but it creates instant fans who are dying to hear lyrics again. The artists has been on a tear to open 2017, dropping high quality music while not compromising a high level of entertainment with lines such as "she loves me but she calls me a Jerk, I got Jamaican sauce...".
JayHitUp's first project "This Wasn't My Dream" found itself some immediate success as many DJs and local figures caught on to the project through the hype that he has generated in less than a year. His second project is "LauderGrove" which is an ode to none other but his idol, Weezy Baby. The project premiered on May 7th and the timing just couldn't be any better. Nonetheless, Jayhitup hints at a new project slated for holiday season. His new Unreleased singles "Never Change" & "One Round" has caught major attention in his city of Fort Lauderdale. "They will drop soon" the rapper says. Broward County is picking up steam with rappers such as Lajan Slim, Kodak Black, and Kolyon paving the way, expect Jayhitup to continue that wave in a major way.
