UPDATE: Emoni Bates is a highly touted junior from Lincoln HS in Ypsilanti, Mi verbally committed to the Michigan State University Spartans. 

HOOD Illustrated Presents the #Str8Ballin Sports page. In this issue, we re-visit a classic interview from our Hoops specialist Deshaun Take #TatesTakeSports with the top baller from the Highschool class of 2022.

Emoni is currently the #1 HS basketball player in the country and has been the top of his class since middle school. Since this interview, Emoni has grown both physically and mentally.  Battle-tested on and off the court while still staying humble under pressure and capturing back to back McDonald's HS Player of the Year and guiding his team as a freshman to the HS State title.  It was unfortunate that Covid-19 ended this year's season but he did bring home additional hardware for the Gatorade HS POY in 2020, being the 1st Sophmore to ever complete that feat.  The sky's the limit for this superb student-athlete who has the potential to be drafted #1 in the NBA in the future!
