FlyKingi is gearing up for his highly anticipated studio album “The King In I” set for release this fall. Returning to the IAHHM platform the homie Flykingi is dropping off the first single from the album “SuperFLY”. WHERE DOES DRAKE RANK IN YOUR BEST OVERALL RAPPER LIST?

WHAT DO YOU THINK THE PUSHA T BEEF DID FOR BOTH PARTIES? 

Drake is like running music overall at this point. He needs to be his own genre! Him and pushpa are both legands so I think the back and forth was entertainment for the culture. 

 

FAVORITE HIP HOP GROUP OF ALL TIME? 

Salt & Peppa!

 

WHAT HAS THE HARDEST OBSTACLE AS AN INDEPENDENT RECORDING ARTIST BEEN? 

Probably promotion and marketing it hard to get good footing in this industry.

WHAT PLATFORM ARE YOU USING TO DISTRIBUTE YOUR MUSIC AND WHY? 

I use tunecore. I have been using it for years and years and it is a great way to get your music on the market especially when everyone has a streaming subscription these days.

HOW MANY ARTISTS HAVE YOU COLLABORATED WITH LOCALLY? 

So many! I recently did a record with Capotol Records recording artist August Bleu that’s about to drop. Record is crazy so be on the look out.

HOW SERIOUS ARE YOU ABOUT MAKING A LIVING FROM MUSIC? ARE YOU A STUDENT OF THE GAME? 

I’m very serious about my brand overall.

WHAT IS LACKING IN HIP HOP MUSIC THAT YOU THINK YOU CAN CHANGE? 

I think originally, lyricism and the overall craft in itself is missing. People are making songs to sell instead of making songs that sell.

Kelis I love that lady man! She is so amazing people dont understand

DO YOU THINK THE STREAMING ERA IS HURTING OR BENEFITING ARTISTS THESE DAYS? 
I think with anything you have to take it and make it work. Streaming is hurting album sales but you gotta take that and sell merchandise, book shows, tour, so it’s all about how you look at it.

WHAT WOULD YOUR ADVICE BE TO ASPIRING ARTISTS FROM YOUR AREA?

 

Be yourself, be authentic and learn as much as you can. Things will happen when they are suppose to.

Where are you from ? 

Straight outta Compton!

-How did the crew get started? 

I started in a hip hop group which disbanded and then I started to do my own thing.

-How did you choose your rap name ? 

I have always been in to monarchy and my friends and family used to call me king so I came up with Flykingi and havent looked back.

How will you change the industry? 

I will be the first of my kind. I am influenced by allot of people. Ludacris, Busta Rhymes and many more but there is only one me you can look at my artwork before even listening to see that.

-What motivated or inspired you to record your last project? 

I have always been inspired by the blaxploitation era. So movies like super fly and the wiz etc so this is a very funkadelic era. My new song is out called “SuperFLY” and it is some of my best work yet!

-Has there been any time in your journey where you felt like pursuing something else instead of music? 

No I am a born entertainer this is who I am and what I will pursue and conquer straight to the fucking top!

If you had one song of yours to perform on national tv which would it be? 

My new smash single SuperFLY the world is gonna love it!!

If you were offered a perfect distribution/sponsorship from every major company in america which company would suit you and your brand the most? 

I would say Capitol and Atlantic based on the brands the have made popular and legandary and my esthetic.

-What is your favorite movie? Favorite actor? 

Favorite movie is Low Down dirty shane and favorite actor is Will Smith.

-Name 3 things that make you unique as an artist? 

My charisma, the way I approach records and my personality.

-Any projects in the works?

My new single “SuperFLY” is in stores now. My album “The King in I” drops this fall and my new fragrance “The King and I for men and “The Queen in i” for women are dropping this fall also.
