Elijah Daun is a young music artist from Connersville, IN who refuses to believe in limits. Their love for music naturally collides with their love for cinema. If you asked them to describe their genre the Indiana-based artist would just smile and say, “Fiction. It’s don’t like to define myself by any genre because I strive to make whatever I like. What I really enjoy is storytelling through music. Not about my life, necessarily, but some story I’ve made up in my head or from a movie or show I’ve seen or a book or poem I’m writing. It’s just how I like to express my creativity.”
Creativity is the word that Elijah Daun would say defines them the most. In 2010, on their 13th birthday, Elijah wrote their first rap to the beat of 50 Cent’s ”In Da Club”. Once they started learning beat making from their cousin a couple of years later they found inspiration not only from artists such as Jaden, Childish gambino, Tyler, the Creator etc. but from EVERYWHERE from TV trailers, books, and video games. ”It was never because of a soundtrack or sound, ” they said. ”its the vibe. I don't know how to explain it other than that. The vibe of a word or phrase can also be really inspiring. Certain things and situations make me feel a type of way and it inspires me to create whatever it is I create. I'm just kind of a weirdo.”
