Born in a small town called Smiths Station, Alabama, D. Square has humble beginnings to say the least. Due to his Mother joining the Army shortly after giving birth to him at 19, D. Square found himself growing up all over the country. From Ft. Benning Georgia, to Germany, to Hawaii his upbringing provides a strong backdrop to the intense realism of his lyrics.
After being fired from numerous jobs for unknown reasons D. Square found himself homeless and sleeping in his car for over a year, which is where he turned to writing music as his only source of inspiration and hope. Only been rapping for 2yrs, D. Square sounds like a stone-cold Veteran cut from a cloth of the likes of Chuck D, DMX, and the legendary 2pac Shakur.
D. Square has extensive roots in student activism & community organizing. He co-founded the Black Student Union at Santa Rosa Junior College in Northern California, where they put forth an initiative to travel to Tanzania, Africa to build a school for orphaned Tanzanian children. He also has organized several rallies and marches regarding police brutality, specifically in the case of Andy Lopez, a 14yr old who was gunned down by a Police officer in his neighborhood in Santa Rosa.
