The ‘breathe of fresh air’ artist, Cris Cola, is back with an soulful-electrifying
record, “How Ya Living”. You’re in for a high-vibrational treat that doesn’t sour down
Hip-Hop, but rather enlightens it. The Memphis born and raised lyricist, has been becoming
an underground hidden jewel. Currently residing in Hollywood California, he sure has not lost
his southern twang.
Demonstrating elite penmanship, Cris linked with the young prodigy, DJ T.O.P out of
Charlotte, for this nostalgic production piece. The only sixteen-year-old producer/Dj, has already
carved a stable position for himself. Coming from North Carolina, to being respected worldwide
by the top DJ’s at just adolescence, truly speaks volumes. The production on this record seemed
to merged so naturally with Cris unique flavor. Explained as a spur-of-the-moment track, it rings
in the same tune of an instant classic.
Cris is no stranger to making timeless music with notes in the glass bottle. He explained how
most people have a facade, by acquiring idealistic beliefs and using material possessions to
represent their perception. When he’s asking “How Ya Living”, it’s coming from an area of
genuine interaction. How you’re doing mentally? How ya living with the everyday things we all
go through? At equivalent time, making sure to not highlight the tangible objects that make just a
shell of ourselves.
In the end of the second verse, Cris Cola says “I want more for my unborn seed, the world we
leave behind important”, this song will really give you that espresso boost needed at times. It’s a
marvelous feeling knowing this frequency is still alive in Hip-Hop today. Music that is meant to
elevate, inspire, and just plain out vibe to.
