California is known for fashion. The state literally has its own style that has influenced cultures and even countries. So anybody that knows about fashion knows that the hottest trend/fashion line is “Off-White”. Usually associated with Kanye West, Off-White has far out paced the local t-shirt pressers and is now in high-end retailers like Barneys. Which has helped its creator Virgil Aboloh land a new gig as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton. And with this popularity the term ‘Off-White’ has taken on a few different meanings. And an artist by the name of 50/50 Smack is ready to tell his definition with his latest single “Off White”.
50/50 Smack is an artist from Clevland that is signed to the CTL (Cleveland the Label) label. Previously 50/50 Smack has collaborated with Tez Vicious on their single “Seen It”
Produced by Drumgod, the track starts out with a piano melody that immediately grabs the listener’s attention. This is quickly followed by 50/50 Smack’s rap-sing flow that has become popular through the use of auto-tune. It’s these 3 elements that combine to create a codeine influenced trip that has been apart of hip-hop since the mid-2000’s. In the track 50/50 Smack celebrates high price fashion, fast cars, and endless money. He even mentions Virgil the creator of “Off-White” fashion brand in his first verse as to further show his sauce dripethe over.
