The Hardships Behind the Lyrics – Vayreni Talks Mental Health and Music

Vayreni’s music has always been an outlet for his emotions—whether it’s pain, rage, or introspection, his tracks reveal the struggles behind the swagger. In his most recent work, he dives deeper into the emotional and mental challenges he’s faced over the years, from personal loss to battles with addiction and mental health.

Music has been a constant for him through it all, and his willingness to express the darker sides of life through his art makes his tracks resonate deeply with listeners. But what does it take to put those emotions into words? How does he balance vulnerability with the need for self-protection in an often unforgiving industry?

UrbanSound sat down with Vayreni to talk about how his struggles shaped the music, and why mental health is something he’s ready to speak on more openly.

UrbanSound: You’ve been very open about your mental health struggles and personal hardships. How do those experiences influence your music?

Vayreni: It’s everything, really. Music is my therapy. I’ve had moments where I felt like I couldn’t escape my head, whether it was battling addiction or dealing with heartbreak and loss. I think if I didn’t have music, I wouldn’t have been able to process a lot of those feelings. My tracks, especially the new stuff, are me being honest about where I’ve been and what I’ve gone through. I don’t want to just make music that sounds good—I want to make something that connects with people on a deeper level.

UrbanSound: Do you ever worry about being too vulnerable in your music, or is that just part of the process for you?

Vayreni: At this point, I’ve learned to stop worrying about what people think. Being vulnerable is part of the process for me, and if people don’t get it, that’s cool. I’m not making music for validation. I’m making it to heal, and if it helps someone else along the way, that’s the goal. I think there’s strength in being vulnerable, even though the world sometimes tells us to hide it. I’m just being real with my audience.

Vayreni’s willingness to bare it all through his music allows his fans to connect with him on a deeply personal level. As he continues to explore new creative depths, we can expect to hear even more of his truth in future releases. His authenticity will undoubtedly inspire others to embrace their own vulnerabilities.
