We have been following the KonQuestNow Camp for quite sometime. Although their circle is based out of California...their versatility in sound and style makes it almost impossible to bunch them into a regional sound. For the crews latest release, KonQuest frontman Wreck The Rebel takes charge and delivers a melodical composition that quickly pulls you into their realm.
Lyrical content, metaphoric bars and a style switching delivery are strongly present through out the song. Wreck The Rebel has a style all his own (as well as every other member of KonQuest) that from the very first bar, you know you are in store for actual music. You cannot help to to drift away into the music.
Always having some next generation sound behind there vocals is something that is pushing KonQuest to the top. The beats don't sound like anything hip hop has really heard before. Yet the perfectly fit with the flow. For "Tree House," Wreck teamed up with producer Musikal, and the outcome is yet another classic.
One thing that has always caught our attention with them is the attention to detail in the word play. The way anyone on KonQuest will make you pause, think and rewind just to make sure you got it correctly. With that said...one of our favorite parts of this particular track...is when Wreck slows it all down, and explains the term he sais and how he said it...then drops right back into the music perfectly timed. Amazing way to paint the picture to the listeners Wreck!
All in all as always, the music is amazing. So please,...before you say "real hip hop is dead"...take a look in the underground...where it is still breathing well. And being pampered with grace. Wreck the Rebel and the entire KonQuestNow camp are prime examples of this.
