Los Angeles, CA – July 23, 2020- Wil Key has teamed up with several world-class vocalists to create a brand new music video for the Black Lives Matter movement. The entire video was written and directed by Key and was shot by Red Riot Films (Netflix, HBO). The entire production was filmed on location in Downtown Los Angeles and Long Beach, California during the recent protests and unrest surrounding the death of George Floyd and other unarmed blacks who have died at the hands of police.
The song, which is written and produced by Key is appropriately titled “Got So Far To Go,” and puts a spotlight on several major concerns of the BLM movement including the rampant injustice and systemic racism endured by people of color in America. The run time of the video is exactly 8:46 and is purposefully presented in stark, film noir-style black & white with splashes of color interspersed throughout. Some of the singers include L. Young (Stevie Wonder), Skyler Jordan (Ice Cube) and former Motown recording artist – Angela Coleman. The song was recorded in Amsterdam and Los Angeles with a host of first-call studio musicians including Cecil Thomas, Jr (Diana Ross), Yohei Nakamura (Brian McKnight), and Reggie Johnson (Babyface). It is featured on a special album project released by Key entitled “Globetrotter: Side A” and each song on the album was recorded in a different country of the world. Over 11 countries total. The music video for the song premiered on Juneteenth – Friday, June 19, 2020 @ 8:46AM PDT.
