Hood Illustrated examines the 9 solo album “Dark Horse” from one of the most influential artists to ever hit the rap game. Twista formerly known as Tongue Twista represents Chicago, Illinois and is known mostly for his fast rapping style. To his fans and those who have followed him all the way back to “Running Off At The Mouth” and his breakout album “Adrenaline Rush” it’s hard not mention his name when it comes to listing the top rappers in the game.
This new album is solid and not to far from what you would expect from previous albums. His label (Get Money Gang) GMG is still maintaining and pushing this project with more of an independent vibe. It’s been close to 4 years since “Perfect Storm” which featured the hit single “Make A Movie” Feat. Chris Brown eventhough time has passed Twista is still on top of his game.
The Beatz and Rhymes on this highly anticipated album live up to the hype. Production from “The Legendary Traxster“, DJ Tight Mike and few other producers is very good. Features include several of his industry friends like R.Kelly, Tech N9ne, Wiz Khalifa, Berner, Chief Keef, DJ Victoriouz and a few others which help in some case but Twista keeps everything focused and shines bright. You are getting a quality product and some certified bangers when you push play on “Dark Horse”. At some points it gets dark and then you might find a track that motivates you. These are the things you come to expect from Twista.
Overall we rated Beats 4 Stacks and Rhymez 4 Stackz
