If the name "Harvey Finch" rings a bell, it shouldn't be surprising. His name appears on over 300 music videos and 50 projects. You might have even seen him before in videos. Strange guy, red bag on his head and sounds like the devil speaking because of a distorted voice effect. But if you listen, you start to realize, aside from the gimmick this guy has bars!!!
Let's get the basics out of the way. He is CEO and owner of Harvey Finch Enterprise. He is a director, engineer and an artist on the teams list. His back story stems from a 6 state multi-jurisdictional investigation, federal indictments and planted informants. A lot of people turning on each other and him going off the grid to avoid the situation. This is where the idea was born and he started Harvey Finch Enterprise. He and a few other artists began to work on projects, eventually releasing his debut mixtape "Psyco-logical Evaluation." The pending circumstance caused him to hide his face and disguise his voice. And it caught the attention of many. Including some people he didn't want to notice. Immediately following, Finch was taken off the scene for a few years.
Now with all issues under the table and all pending investigations closed, Harvey Finch returns with his sophomore release "Relapse." 2 sponsored HFE Cyphers (Blank Tv and Underground Rap World), a trip to his torture chambers and a mini hood movie music video later...Relapse dropped Halloween of this year only on www.hfemovement.com. It is for free download and streaming and is one to add to your collection.
Relapse starts off with Finch visiting his doctor just before strangling him and the intro starts with a hard line explaining that a house full of strangers to him can die,...simply because they were home. From there he lyrically pays homage to Hip Hop in his dark way with "Gangster Music." He spits through his last verse dropping classic titles of songs that you might be tortured to. Finch speaks on everything with this project from being in his position, to the corruptness of the game and even speaks on brutalizing the industry in "House of 1,000 Corpses". Even though he is spitting bars and riding the beat nicely in a way that reminded this listener of old school Top Authority or Geto Boys....he mixes in a violent and dark undertow.
The production choices on this project amplified the possessed sound of Mr. Finch. As he spoke mellow line after mellow line about torture methods, loyalty and hustling...I could only see one picture painted to best describe the sound of "Relapse"......think, Michael Myers rapping over some old 3-6 Mafia. Still, by the end of the project...you find yourself disappointed that it ended so quickly.
Relapse only has 11 songs (just touching the number to be considered a full length project), but every song is a masterpiece. Perfectly put together and in an order where one just blends into another. And of those 11 songs, 7 of them have music videos out. The HFE camp has been working hard this year. And bringing in this freakish lyrical force of nature was a mortal combat brutality finish. Check out a few of the videos below, and download or stream your copy of "Relapse" today.
