How much impact has the Wu-Tang had on you?
Wu-Tang has had a huge impact on me. 36 Chambers was one of the first albums I ever heard & it set the standard for my ears.
Also growing up in Staten, seeing & experiencing the things they were talking about shaped my view even further, beyond music.
Congrats on the new album. How does it feel to share it with the world?
It's a great joy & a relief. Very happy for the world to hear this project.
What song on the album best represents your city?
I'd have to say "Rise of a Titan". NYC is a tough place with tough people. We get knocked down but get right back up.
We heard you are first generation Egyptian. Does your album feature any Arabic musicians?
Yes. A track called "Don't Give" features Tamer W Michael.
What's your thoughts on the music coming out of Staten Island?
I think Staten Island has some of the most talented musicians I've ever seen or heard.
Many greatly over looked and under appreciated, unfortunately.
Who are some musicians from Staten Island our readers should check out?
This list could get very long but just to name a few :
Tyrone Briggs, Eddy I, Chris Valentine, iNTeLL, Prema777, Squeegie O, Hue Hef, Chedda Bang, Solomon Childs, 1WayTKT
What would you tell someone looking to pursue a career in music?
Firstly I'd say make sure this is really what you want to do, because in order to excel, you have to commit everyday to it.
My advice would be to stay true to yourself & don't ever slack because nothing comes easy.
What's next for Marz?
I'm thinking about producing my own album in the near future. Aside from that, I'm working with my partners, building our iBattleTV brand.
