Zay Brown is a 24 year old singer, rapper, and songwriter. Originally from New Britain Connecticut, he is now living in Southern California on Catalina Island, working full time as a Chef & security guard. Zay strives to make the kind of music that will fill his listeners' spirits with vibes they've never felt with other artists before. Zay is currently independent and not signed to any major label. Ironically, he has been recording all of his new music right out of his hotel room, using what little he has to make the best out of his current situation. Life was never too easy for Zay, growing up in the east coast.
"I guess that’s what prepared me to make this move. I first came to California when I was 20. I had no family, no connections, it was just me, and I didn’t really start making music until the passing of my sister in 2016. When that happened, it made me look at my life and wonder. I got all this time on my hands, a little money saved up from working so much, What do I do? So I started rapping. I was always a singer so the rapping just came naturally. I spent the last 2 years pulling my resources together and relationships I've built to put myself out there. So far I’ve released 2 new singles this year on Spotify and so far everything has exceeded my expectations, because I really had no expectations."
Zay Brown currently sits comfortably at over 50,000 monthly listeners on Spotify with no investors, management, or label. Zay has also accumulated over 200,000 streams on Spotify, which is very impressive for an independent artist. One wonders where Zay Brown's career will go from here. I believe Zay Brown will be the biggest artist to emerge from Connecticut and cannot wait to see it come into existence. Zay also informed me that he will be releasing a debut EP titled "Overlooked" sometime this year. I’m very anxious to hear what that sounds like.
