Born in Monroe, Georgia, Sherrod Rashad, currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
The music artist’s given name is Mitchell “Sherrod” Vinson, in which his stage name derives from. Sherrod created the alias "Sherrod Rashad", after he encountered dozens of people who would mistake his true name “Sherrod” for “Rashad”.
The Indy rapper has come from humble beginnings, in which he emphasizes in his
music along with a host of social issues. The rapper has in many cases beat the odds that were stacked against him, managing to overcome a household filled with domestic violence, drug abuse and financial lack. Sherrod first realized his passion for music at the age of 11, when a close relative Demious Vinson formed the local legendary rap group, Thugz Nation. At the time, way too young to be a member of the group, Sherrod would write rhymes in a note book in hopes of reciting them for the group. With time, Sherrod continued to write rhymes and compose songs, but eventually gravitated towards football, a sport in which he dominated in most of his life. Sherrod eventually received a scholarship to play football for Georgia State University. With his college football career nearing, and no professional football teams showing interest, Sherrod naturally begin to pursue his music career with full strength.
Sherrod is inspired by artists such as J.Cole, Tupac Shakur, and Kendrick Lamar. Sherrod is as much a storyteller, as he is a realist. When you listen to Sherrod’s records, its almost as if you are looking at the world through his eyes. Sherrod notes that, “When I write a song, I try to be as transparent as possible...willing to bare it all, so that the listener will leave with a new viewpoint”.
Sherrod is currently working on his debut mixtape, in which will be comprised of original tracks, as well as some familiar tracks of mainstream artists.
