Q. ( 4 part question) What was the motivation behind creating the label ?
First artist you signed and why
How to do you choose artist to bring on
How would you describe the sound of the label / style
A.The motivation for creating the label: I was at a point in my life where I knew I wanted to do something different. I was a professional fighter at the time but I started to lose the passion for it. So just brainstorming about my next move over time I decided to invest the money I had saved up between me and my brother Marcel Tassy and start our own record label. I called my cousin jaquan jones known as 730_Rico whos been already making music for a few years, with the idea to start this record label and he was all for it. I already had in mind which artist I wanted to work with from the town so the pick was easy. I signed 4 artists to the label, brought all the equipment we needed and turned 7tre records in an LLC and it was off to the races back in 2017.
Each artist brings their own sound to the label and at the same time, they complement each other on tracks
Q. What would say is the hardest part of being the CEO?
A. The hardest part of being the Ceo is that I allow the artist to be just artist and I handle all other business and making sure everything running the way it supposed to be. and that gets time-consuming, costly and stressful.
Q. What advice would you give someone looking to get into the field
A. Some advice for anybody looking to get in this field, get you a strong team where everyone has the same goals but also knows how to play their position the best way possible and success happens.
Q. Most exciting part of your position ( what do you look forward to, what excites you about your artist)
A. The most exciting part of my position is working to make everyone's dream come true one day and looking back and saying "we finally made it". A feeling that's priceless when u start from the bottom.
Q. Goals for the label ( where do you see it in 5 years )
A. In the next 5 years, I see my company in a position where we can help more up and coming artist locally form the town. Right now my hands are full but Rockland has a lot of talent that needs to hear.
Q. What’s in store this year
A. My goal this year is keeping building their resume, building the brand, finding smarter ways to invest my money and then I'm going to walk into one of these big record labels with a resume that that has talent artist who can make some money. This year be on the lookout for a new sound and new energy of music coming into the world.
