Casket D's latest album release, Dr. Eams, is yet another incredible display of Casket's artistry in his already decorated discography. Crafted with tender care and precision to detail, the album highlights his ability to rap at the highest level while delivering a conceptual gem where you can feel the emotion behind every bar—his true forte.
Dr. Eams plays as a therapy session throughout the album. It is clear that he is on a personal journey, weaving through loss, grief, and the emotional baggage that lingers when it all settles in. The album becomes his coping mechanism, a place where Casket finds refuge and solace.
Through Dr. Eams, he has found a way to transport himself and connect with those who are no longer here physically. He finds himself addicted to visiting them through the duration of this album. He expresses his desire to continue spending time with them but makes it clear that he is not ready to be where they are permanently.
He finds strength in his family on "Courage." He conveys the weight of delivering his grandmother's eulogy and displays his frustration with fans expecting new music while he is still mourning on "Bonnie Prince." He also wrestles with the thoughts of some of his lost loved ones going to Heaven ("Pearly’s") or Hell ("Downstate in the 'Pits'")—comparing the two to an exclusive VIP club and a prison in the track "Comets."
Casket diving deep into his dreams is obviously therapeutic and helping him to heal from loss, all the while giving us some of the most potent and emotionally charged Hip Hop in a while.
