Jamaal Saunders, professionally known as “Jay Shephard” was born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas, and was influenced by celebrated artists such as; Bob Marley, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Michael Jackson, and Gentleman. Jay has always sought to mirror his own artistry to the legacy such legends left behind! Surviving a traumatic life altering experience, Jay’s entire course of existence shifted dramatically.
Having survived a fatal near-death shot to the face, Jay uses his experience to express the importance of celebrating life daily, while spreading his message through music. In doing so Jay has worked with top Grammy winning producers like Troyton Rami and Jon FX. This experience also inspired the artist to author a book entitled, “Take A Shot at Your Dreams; Before Murphy's Law takes a Shot at you”. Jay was awarded with several accolades for his work as a recording artist including the Elevation Award for "Best International Artist". In 2021, Jay was awarded a Billboard plaque for his participation on the Billboard Charting "Tropical Houses Cruises to Jamaica" 2nd edition album.
Jay Shephard recently released another dancehall-infused banger dubbed “Honey”. Inspired by his love for women worldwide, the single celebrates their unique beauty and style. Jay's anthem-like chorus is memorable so that listeners can easily join in and sing along. From the depths of the powerful percussions to the heights of the bass-influenced dancehall beats, this banger is best enjoyed anywhere music can be heard.
