It is a normal trend for folks to place Christians in a box and put a tab on the kind of music that they can listen to, even though the likes of Kirk Franklin have pushed the boundary in recent times, the stigma is still there. But all that is about to change even more as Vonco is coming with a true hip-hop album, Putting God First” which is putting God first literally.

Vonco, a Christian hip-hop act from Petersburg, Virginia, kicked off his musical journey at a very young age. Music was one of the avenues he used in dealing with the constant moving that he had to do because of the nature of his father’s job as a military officer. Although, he followed the trend and work on secular songs, it all changed after his cousin was killed.
Life Changing Event
The death of his cousin made him question his relationship with God, as he lost hope and faith and started getting into trouble from time to time. But God works in mysterious ways, as this incident brought Vonco closer to God and changed the course of his music towards the gospel for good.
Vonco believes music is a tool, even though he is still finding his way in the gospel and working on his relationship with God. Vonco knows he has a duty to spread the word and wake everyone up to bring us back to The Most High.

Unique Style of Rapping
His laid-back style of rapping is well complicated with great hooks that drive home the message in more ways than one. This is what you will find when you listen to his EP, Putting God First. With songs like Going Through It, which focuses on the challenges that life brings, this song that was written when his cousin was still alive, is a clear reflection of what we go through and emphasizes the fact that God has got us covered.
The title track, Putting You First, is a song that you will definitely bump to while you are driving as it takes you on a journey to self-discovery and God’s love. So it is hard not to love this song and other tracks in the EP because you can connect with them.
