Jamal “Harmoney” Hinds was born and raised in the concrete jungle of Brooklyn, NY. Harmoney has always been a forward‐thinker and an innovator. He learned to utilize his hustle and ambition to obtain his wants and needs early in life. Though many activities have commanded his attention throughout the years, one constant has always been his love and adoration for music. Some of his fondest memories involved songs played in his home that touched his heart and inspired him to sing along. Influenced by singer/songwriters like Jamie Foxx, Tank, Ginuwine and Missy Elliott, Harmoney knew he had found something he loved more than anything else. After listening to Jamie Foxx’s album entitled “Unpredictable”, Harmoney began creating his own music and it became his strongest emotional outlet. .
Raised by a Trinidadian mother and Guyanese father, Harmoney was always heavily influenced by his West Indian roots. He would often play around incorporating patois into his song creations. The introduction of a foreign dialect made his music edgy and sexy. He began to draw attention from his peers grinding their hips at basement parties in syncopation to his Caribbean cadence.
His voice was warm and comfortable.
Harmoney focused on deeper lyrical content expressing feelings many are afraid to say. His honesty, physical attributes and soothing intonation tugged at the heart- strings of the ladies. His friends and family often praised his talent and encouraged him to continue to pursue his career in entertainment. He had created a strong initial fan base of believers.
Music became so much more than it had ever been after the unexpected loss of both of his sisters in a fatal car accident. Tragedy brought a blanket of weakness and grief to his household. He decided to push his own despair down inside and be the strength his family needed. His songs became like a soothing balm giving Harmoney a way to express new, raw emotions of pain and anger. Arranging and mixing tracks he had created helped him to calm him self, find peace and gather his thoughts.
Harmoney’s subject matter ranges from the streets to the bedroom catering to his male counterparts as well as his female followers. He is currently a singer/songwriter signed to 4Ever Young Music Group label. He is a full time recording artist and remains a skilled songwriter. Currently 4EYMG producers Choppa2x and Juice -N-Tea, have mastered the perfect sound to accompany his thought‐provoking lyrics. Harmoney is also working with celebrity producer Yung Berg aka Hitmaka. His sultry voice, heart felt words and engineering talents have afforded him the opportunity to be the next heavily sought after R&B sensation to hit the airwaves. His journey is a testament to the value of hard work, dedication and most importantly, having faith in yourself and your craft.
