HOOD Illustrated Magazine #DownSouthHustlin @ SXSW Day 2

SXSW was way more than I expected after Day 1 … With the #BestInThaMidwest Issue No.10 less than a week old it was necessary I put that mf on the map!!! The magazine received so much love on our first day but with the good times comes a few bump in the road. The parking situation was bananas in downtown Austin with pricing ranging from $15 if your luck up to $80 … smh. I was new to the area and tried to pull a quick one and parked near one of the venues in a production only parking that cost me a $30 dollar ticket if paid early; I just chopped it up as parking and posted up w/ that ticket on my window for 6 more hours. The most depressing time of the trip happened at 1am on my way back toward the room so I can get prepared for the Sway in the Morning show and the two #HOODIllustrated Events scheduled for Day 2. I locked my keys in the rental and it ended up costing me $65 bucks and 2 hours of promo time because the lock out service was late. I’m thinking Day 2 has to get better and just 6 hours later my number 1 goal was about to be accomplished.
I had barely gotten any sleep up to that point but all that didn’t matter as I packed up 3 of the 6 boxes of magazines that arrived from USPS (I’ve been tracking them since Monday and by the way the packages looked that arrived I was pretty much sure that the others will be delayed or will never arrived because the boxes broke) again I smh….. That was around 200 magazines which equates to around 1000 physical impressions; which can’t be replaced.
On to the game changing moment for HOOD Illustrated Magazine. The primary reason I went to #SXSW. Arrived at the #SwayInTheMorning #YouTube #SXSW edition… I worked the room and eventually caught the eye of Sway and Heather B. There was nobody in the audience handing out music, business cards, fliers, etc... Except for me. Even though this was the perfect networking opportunity for any artist who was seriously on their grind… Advantage #HOODIllustrated. I knew my product had the look, it is high quality #Dope …Got a few pictures with the cast but the most important issue was meeting The Gatekeeper Sway Calloway; The legend Heather B (Yea legend; ain’t nobody pop off that reality show shit like HB) and Tracy G (The Insider) …. Ran into several artist I didn’t know about and a few Indie artist who’ve been featured on the website and also blessed the pages of HOOD Illustrated such as Lantana (Reppin’ Cincinnati). Linked up w/ Hip Hop Nations @Torae and new dope artist Slim Dolla… One thing is for sure the majority of the attendees will remember the brand and of course the millions of listeners who got to hear our 47 seconds of fame as I was asked a few questions and represented heavy for #HOODIllustrated and the #517.
The day continued as I had some assistance from my home boi who drove down from Houston to Kick it w/ me and take in some of the festivities. From 11am – 2pm we had a Media Meet and Greet at Peckerheads which was powered by HOOD Illustrated x Right Now Tour. From there we represented at the #MidwestMonsters Showcase / Official HOOD Illustrated Magazine release party for Big Heff (@BigHeffMidwestFresh) and got to link up with the home town fam. #DetroitMichigan Artist @BoldyJames, #BBOD. Battle Rapper Cortez, #NerveDjs and also got to link up with Ray Jr. The rest of the day consisted of networking and hitting up every show possible handing out fliers, taking pics and making sure those who didn’t know about the magazine at least got a quick glipse at what was going down. Def need to shout out @Eaarz for the VIP plug at the Bud Light Rooftop Stage.
Overall Day 2 was another success minus the missing magazines… (Thank you USPS ... smh). But the night ended off straight with 16 hours left before my flight back to the Mitten… Check out the pics on www.HOODILLUSTRATED.com … Please share
